SHILLONG, May 8: Members of the Federation of All School Teachers of Meghalaya (FASTOM) will head to the Main Secretariat at 11 am on Monday to seek an appointment with Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma to find out the status of their demands.
FASTOM spokesperson, Mayborn Lyngdoh on Sunday said they had sought an appointment from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on May 1 but were yet to be invited.
Lyngdoh said they had tried to meet the chief minister on the day Bollywood actor John Abraham had met him in his office. He added that the Federation had mailed him and called his office several times but in vain. “Sadly, we did not get any response,” the FASTOM spokesperson said.
Lyngdoh warned that if the CM does not meet them on Monday they will organise another rally on May 12.
“We have also decided to hold an indefinite sit-in where no one will move until our demands are fulfilled,” he said, while adding, “We will try to hold the sit-in near the Main Secretariat but will not resist if we are not allowed.”
