Man dies in truck-scooty collision in city

SHILLONG, May 11: A 46-year-old man lost his life in a collision between his scooty and a pick-up truck on the road near Main Secretariat gate on Tuesday night.
The pillion, identified as Debolina Deb, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to Civil Hospital Shillong. Deb is a student of Meghalaya Police Public School (MPPS).
It was learned that her condition was stable.
The pick-up truck was reportedly driving on the wrong way as it was en route towards the SP’s Office on the one-way road.
On reaching the turn near ICICI bank, the two vehicles collided with one another. As a result, the man, Subunkar Deb, died on the spot.
Sources, on Wednesday, informed that the driver had fled the scene after the collision with the scooty.
However, police said the driver was later arrested but somehow managed to get bail.
