JOWAI, May 30: An inspection was conducted at Chah-tngit near Myntdu bridge along the Jowai- Shillong road to check illegal construction of residential buildings which goes against the directive of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
The inspection was conducted by the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills along with other officials, during which around 13 houses were detected to have been illegally constructed near the river.
The JHADC in December 2020 had issued an order to stop any construction within 50m of the river bank.
