Police issue advisory on Aadhaar-related fraud bids
SHILLONG, June 3: The Superintendent of Police (CID) has warned the public against Aadhaar-related fraud attempts. A statement in this regard informed that frauds are taking place through Aadhaar-Enabled Payment System (AePS), whereby fraudsters are able to gain access to a person’s confidential information such as Aadhaar number and biometric data, and are able to perform Aadhaar-enabled payments without the permission of the Aadhaar holder. In this regard, the police have advised the public to not disclose their personal credentials, including Aadhaar number. The public has also been asked to keep their mobile numbers, which are registered on Aadhaar, active. The ones, who do not have access to their phone numbers, have been asked to change the same by visiting the nearest Aadhaar centre. The public has also been suggested to lock their respective biometric from the UIDAI website https://resident.uidai.gov.in/bio-lock to ensure that the same is not misused.
Min moved over commuters’ woes
TURA, June 3: All India Trinamool Congress MDC from Rongrong in the GHADC, Rinaldo K Sangma, on Friday urged PWD Minister Dasakhiat Lamare to look into everyday problems faced by commuters from Garo Hills who visit Shillong. In his letter addressed to Lamare, the Rongrong MDC listed a slew of commuting problems faced by visitors from Garo Hills in Shillong. According to the MDC, the high rate of taxi fares was not proving to be cost-effective to visitors, especially to the young migrant students of Garo Hills. With the exorbitant rates of taxis from the ISBT in Mawiong to other parts of the city, the unavailability of any kind of alternative mode of transport was proving to be a financial burden on students, the MDC added. Pointing out that resolving all issues in the state should be the priority of the government, the MDC urged the PWD Minister to personally look into the matter.
