Body of 50-yr-old found afloat on Simsang river

BAGHMARA, July 10: South Garo Hills (SGH) Police on Saturday recovered the body of a 50-year-old from Simsang river near Baghmara.
Locals had earlier reported to the police about the body of a person that was seen floating on the river.
After the body was extracted, they identified the person as one Joren Marak (50). However, there are no known relatives of the deceased.
Joren, as per locals, worked as a scrapper and was staying at the Baghmara New Market area.
“He had been staying in Baghmara for the past 40 years but there is no information of any relations of the deceased. We request anyone with any information on any known relatives of the victim to come forward and contact the PCR, Baghmara so that the body may be handed over,” said Superintendant of Police of South Garo Hills district, Rithuraj Ravi S.
The police chief added that there seemed no foul play suspected in the case but they would await a post-mortem report before declaring so.
