TURA, July 15: Jobs for youths, end to coal issue, completion of pending developmental works, and clearance and increment of salaries of GHADC employees and SSA teachers respectively were some of the promises included in fake NPP election manifestos disseminated on social media platforms by unidentified individuals and groups.
The National People’s Party (NPP) in Tura on Friday filed a police complaint against unidentified individuals and groups for allegedly uploading on social media fake election manifestos, issued under the party’s name, in both English and Garo languages.
In one of the fake manifestos, bearing the picture of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, promise was made to clear the pending salaries of GHADC employees after the 2023 Assembly elections.
The election manifesto also predicted that regional parties will be erased and that the NPP will come to power with absolute majority.
In another such manifesto, with the picture of the CM, it was promised that top priority will be given to the education sector by enhancing the salaries of SSA teachers and releasing on time the salaries of ad hoc teachers. Jobs for the youths were also promised.
The aims and objectives of the party after the elections were also listed, some of which included completion of pending development works, end to coal issue, set-up of new subdivisions and districts in Garo Hills, etc.
Meanwhile, general secretary of NPP in Tura MN Marak, while stating it was an attempt to mislead people against the party, urged the Police department to immediately act against those involved under appropriate sections of law.
