SBI discusses challenges faced by exporters, importers of GH
SHILLONG, July 25: In a bid to discuss the problems and challenges faced by the exporters and importers of Garo Hills, State Bank of India (SBI), Tura, organised an exporters’ meet. According to a statement, the meet, which was attended by 30 leading exporters as well as SBI officials, also conferred about the business opportunities available in the international market for manufacturers and exporters of various types of finished goods. During the meeting, the attendees were asked to take advantage of the low interest rate schemes available for exporters and manufacturers with SBI and earn better dividends through exports. A detailed presentation on various banks products like export packing credit, FCNR(B), pre-shipment, post-shipment and other forex products was made.
JD(U) sets foot in Garo Hills
TURA, July 25: With 2023 Assembly elections less than a year away, the Janata Dal(United) or JD(U), which has its roots in Bihar, has made its first appearance in Garo Hills with the party holding its first-ever meeting at Williamnagar in East Garo Hills on Saturday. As per a statement, during the meeting, which was attended by Arunachal State president of JD(U) Ruhi Tagung, hundreds of people joined the party. Speaking during the meeting, Tagung informed that the JD(U) was founded by George Mathew Fernandez, a Christian leader, along with Sharad Pawar, Nitish Kumar and others in 2003 in Bihar.
Night camp in Mawngap
SHILLONG, July 25: As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, State Bank of India (SBI), Mawngap branch, recently organised a ‘Ratri Shivir/Night Camp’ in Mawngap for the villagers from Mawphlang C&RD Block. According to a statement here, the night camp was attended by farmers, Dorbars of villages falling under Mawphlang C&RD Block, as well as bank officials. “Constructive discussions and ideas on Agricultural Banking were exchanged between the farmers and the Bank officials of SBI Mawngap Branch and SBI Regional Business Office, Dhanketi, Shillong,” the statement informed. As part of the SBI’s Corporate Social Responsibility, 50 chairs were also donated to the Iing Dorbar Hall Mawngap Mawkharshiing, Mawngap.
