Charitable football friendly match held in Mawkyrwat

MAWKYRWAT, Aug 23: A charitable football friendly match was played between pastors from Mawkyrwat Zone – including four Presbyteries – and government officers of the District at the Saitsnad Stadium, Mawlangwir, near Mawkyrwat, in the presence of thousands of football enthusiasts.
The government officers emerged winners in the friendly match after defeating the pastors 3-1. Hiwot Rymbai (DSP) scored in the 13th and 30th minutes while Steveford Marwein (EAC) added one in the 65th. Rev. Peaceful Paliar scored the lone goal for the pastors in the 31st minute.
The charitable football friendly match was organised by the Jingiaseng Iasyllok Ki Pastor, Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian (KJP) Synod Sepngi to raise funds for the construction of the Centenary Building, Hospital Annexxe of Dr. H. Gordon Roberts Hospital, Shillong as part of the Centenary Celebration (1922-2022) of the Hospital with the theme “Haduh katne U Trai u la iarap ia ngi”.
Others present for the match included Deputy Commissioner C Kharkongor, Superintendent of Police BJ Laloo, moderator of KJP Synod Sepngi Rev I.W. Nongsiej and other senior pastors of the Synod.
