Artistes from different states add colour to Teej prog in city

SHILLONG, Sep 3: Artistes from various states, including Assam and Sikkim, performed traditional dance and songs, displaying their rich cultures, during a programme in Shillong to celebrate Teej festival recently.
According to a statement, the day-long programme, which was organised by the Akhil Shillong Nepali Mahila Samiti, showcased cultural diversity of Nepali community, comprising several ethnic groups such as the Gurung, Magar, Rai, Newar, Tamang etc.
A short skit on domestic violence was also performed by the Samiti members.
Local MLA Mohendro Rapsang, who was part of the event, lauded the Samiti for promoting the culture of the community.
