SHILLONG, Oct 27: The High-Level Committee (HLC) is still awaiting feedback from the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) on the blueprint for relocating the 342 families from Them Iew Mawlong to the quarters of the Shillong Municipal Board on Bishop Cotton Road.
The blueprint was handed over to the leaders of the HPC almost a month ago. They said they would consult engineers and architects before taking a final call.
“The court gave some direction but till now they have not communicated anything to the government or to the HLC. I had told them to discuss (the blueprint) and decide so that I can call the next meeting,” Deputy Chief Minister and HLC chairperson Prestone Tynsong said on Thursday.
The HPC had earlier said the government did not address eight points it had raised in its earlier representation. A multistorey building for resettling the Harijan Colony residents was not among these points.
HPC secretary Gurjit Singh confirmed receiving the relocation blueprint on September 30. He said the HPC members would take time to understand the plan.
According to the state government’s plan, 30-40 flats or units would be constructed in 12 new blocks on the SMB premises measuring about 2.5 acres.
