SHILLONG, Nov 4: The Assam government is likely to constitute the regional border committees soon for holding the second phase of discussions with Meghalaya.
Assam Border Areas Protection Minster Atul Bora, who was in Shillong on Friday, said the first move was from Assam and later both states conducted joint visits to the disputed areas and submitted the reports to the respective state governments for resolving the first phase.
He expressed optimism that the dispute in the remaining areas would also be resolved amicably by the two states.
The Meghalaya government had constituted the three regional committees in September to examine the second phase of border settlement in the remaining six areas of difference — Langpih in West Khasi Hills; Borduar, Nongwah-Mawtamur, Desh Doomreah and Block-II in Ri-Bhoi and Block-I and Psiar-Khanduli in West Jaintia Hills.
