‘Stakeholders pursuing recognition to Khasi language for decades’
SHILLONG, Nov 16: The Khasi Authors’ Society (KAS) and other stakeholders of Meghalaya have been pursuing the matter of constitutional recognition to Khasi language with the Centre for decades, said Principal of St. Edmund’s College, Sylvanus Lamare, on Wednesday. “But till date the Khasi language is yet to be included in the Eighth Schedule,” Lamare said, while speaking at a function to commemorate the 112th death anniversary of Babu Rabon Sing Kharsuka, which was held at Khasi National Durbar Hall. Dr Sylvanus, who is also the former member of the Sahitya Akademi, said that the Centre has enquired whether Mathematics or Science can be learnt or taught in Khasi language. Mentioning that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had announced that the government will honour the authors, Dr Sylvanus, however, questioned as to why the State Literary Award was not awarded for the past several years. “I strongly feel that the State Literary Award should be revived,” he said.
MLCU workshop on ‘Psychodrama and Expressive Arts Therapy’
SHILLONG, Nov 16: As part of the Tribal Pride Week, organised in line with Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (Tribal Pride Day), the Department of Psychology of Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), in collaboration with Arts & Culture department, organised a workshop on ‘Psychodrama and Expressive Arts Therapy’ at Divine Saviour Parish, Nongshylliang, on Wednesday. According to a statement, the first workshop focussed on expressive art therapy with the objectives to bring an understanding of how all creative arts are therapeutic and to help participants experience visual art, movement, storytelling, psychodrama, poetry, music. The second workshop, on the other hand, was on Orientation to Psychodrama, helped the participants to convey the essential steps and to explain the key elements of psychodrama through action.
