SHILLONG, Dec 21: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has proposed in its 2023 Assembly election manifesto the need to promote software technology to address the problem of revenue leakage.
“We have also incorporated in the draft manifesto the need for the proper management of the state’s finances,” MPCC president Vincent H Pala said.
The draft has been submitted to the All India Congress Committee, he added.
He said the party stressed the need to tap the potential of developing tourism for creating employment opportunities besides addressing the problem of joblessness among the educated youth in the state.
Pala said Congress will try to create job avenues and encourage the youth to become entrepreneurs.
According to him, there is a need to bring about transparency in the process of recruitment for the vacant posts in the government sector.
Pala also pointed out that many of the deserving youth are not getting jobs as the recruitment conducted by the District Selection Committees (DSCs) is not transparent.
“We have seen reports about the manipulation in the recruitment process by the DSCs in the Garo Hills region,” the MPCC chief said.
Pala also said the party will try to strengthen the primary health centres and the community health centres apart from taking steps to ensure the availability of medicines in these health centres.
He stressed the need to promote trade with Bangladesh by setting up more border haats and land customs stations.
“The draft manifesto will be screened and fine-tuned by the AICC research team and experts. Our manifesto should be in line with that of the AICC before it is finalised for release,” Pala said.
