Shillong, Jan 3: Meghalaya State President of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Charles Pyngrope today launched the Meghalaya Youth Employment (MYE) Card to woo youths in the poll-bound hill state in a special campaign organised by the party in the city on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the party’s West Garo Hills District Convenor, Richard Mrong Marak on the MYE Card launch stated “Today, Meghalaya TMC has launched the ‘MYE Card’ under Meghalaya Youth Empowerment Scheme. While we are already receiving enormous support from various sections of women for the ‘WE Card’, this launch of the MYE Card from Meghalaya TMC will provide a brighter future for the unemployed youth of Meghalaya. Under this scheme, ₹1,000 monthly (₹12,000 yearly) will be given to all unemployed youth between the ages of 21-40 years.

“Through this initiative, Meghalaya TMC aims to create 3 lakh jobs over the next 5 years. The ruling NPP-led MDA Government has failed to create any job opportunities or provide direct financial assistance to the unemployed youth of Meghalaya and instead increased the burden on their shoulders.

“Therefore, this scheme will be a momentous step towards empowering the youth in Meghalaya to pursue their dreams, be self-reliant, support their families, and lead an enriching life.

“The amount of faith that has been bestowed upon us by the people of Meghalaya is immense. Today, we stand as a living testimony looking at the massive number of women thronging the kiosks to register for the scheme.

Meghalaya TMC believes that this MYE Card for the unemployed youth will ignite a ray of hope in their lives highlighting that Meghalaya TMC has come to make a difference in their lives.”
