NONGSTOIN, Jan 27: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) on January 27 inducted former HSPDP leader Bobby B Kharchandi along with his supporters into the party fold.
All of them were welcomed at a meeting held at Bishop Hall, Nongstoin.
The induction ceremony was attended by VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, VPP vice president Dr H. Kara Chen and hundreds of party supporters from Nongstoin.
The party also announced that Kharchandi will contest the upcoming polls on VPP ticket from Nongstoin.
Addressing the gathering, Kharchandi said that after he was denied a ticket from the HSPDP, he decided to contest the election as an independent candidate.
He also said that it was only recently that he, along with his supporters, decided to join the VPP and contest the polls on the party ticket.
Meanwhile, Miller said the party does not want people to join VPP just for the election ticket.
He also said that the VPP wants the people to know and accept the party’s principle and ideology.
“Some people may say that Ardent is jumping from one political party to another but for me it is better to change the party than to change someone’s ideology and I have never changed my ideology so far,” he said.
