Cong names five more candidates

SHILLONG, Jan 28: Heading to polls without a single MLA in its camp this time, the once-formidable State Congress on Saturday released the names of five more candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.
The elections are slated for February 27.
According to a statement from the All India Congress Committee, Jhanika Siangshai has been named Congress candidate from Khliehriat, Arbiangkam Khar Sohmat from Amlarem, Chireng Peter R Marak from Kharkutta, Dr Tweel K Marak from Resubelpara and Carla R Sangma from Rajabala.
It may be recalled that the Congress had officially released a list of candidates in 55 seats, including 10 women, six MDCs and several young candidates, for the ensuing elections in the state.
