SHILLONG/ NONGSTOIN, Jan 29: The NPP has expressed strong resentment against its allies in the MDA coalition trying to target the party.
“What is most upsetting is the fact that allies turn sour. But political twists and turns are not unusual in our state,” NPP spokesperson Ampareen Lyngdoh said while responding to a query on how the allies in the MDA are cornering the NPP.
Stating that the NPP expected this to happen, Lyngdoh said the party has been ready with apt responses to all the critics.
“The NPP has now matured and we are able to handle this unfounded anger that we as a party are experiencing,” she said.
According to her, the NPP needs to tolerate this with courage and foresight.
“We have to also adjust to prepare for any political adjustments that may arise in the future,” she added.
It is pertinent to note here that the coalition partners such as the BJP, UDP and others have been found pointing fingers at the NPP over several anomalies and irregularities that have been reported during the tenure of the MDA Government despite being a part of the government.
Youth leaders join NPP in Nongstoin
Meanwhile in Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills, the NPP found the support of youth leaders.
Former president of Nongstoin Assembly Youth Congress, K Kharbani along with 30 other members joined the party on Saturday.
They were welcomed into the party fold by Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat along with other NPP leaders.
Speaking during the welcoming ceremony for the youth leaders, Kharbani said the Congress party in Meghalaya is hopeless since most of the farsighted leaders have deserted the grand-old party.
He joined the NPP after keeping inconsideration the work done by the party’s MLA in Nongstoin constituency.
“Most of the villages have been transformed in the past five years which has impressed most of the youths in the district” Kharbani added.
