Heroin worth Rs 2 cr seized in WGH; one arrested

SHILLONG, Jan 30: Heroin weighing 400 grams and worth around Rs 2 crore was detected at Photamati junction under Tikrikilla PS in Raksamgre, West Garo Hills, on Monday by a joint naka team of West Garo Hills Police and F/100 Bn BSF.
In this connection, one Zakir Hussain (24) from Assam has been arrested. He was travelling from Goalpara to Mankachar with the consignment. The contraband has been seized as per procedure and a case is being registered.
Meanwhile, around Rs 12.47 lakh in cash was seized by various naka teams from across West Garo Hills on Monday.
In view of the upcoming polls, the Model Code of Conduct is in effect and security forces have seized approximately 30,000 litres of liquor worth around Rs 1 crore, while more than Rs 46 lakh of cash was seized besides contraband items.
