BSF-Meghalaya Police seize 18,800 Yaba tablets

Shillong, Feb 9:  Troops of the BSF in a joint operation with Meghalaya Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 18,800 banned Yaba tablets from his possession from an area under Tikrikila Police Station in West Garo Hills district, where BSF and Meghalaya Police were performing pre-election duties.

The arrested drug peddler was heading towards Rangsai village area, West Garo hills in his Bolero pickup when got nabbed.

The apprehended person revealed his name as Raj Ali resident of Goalpara and disclosed that he picked up the Yaba consignment from Goalpara.

A case has been registered against the culprit by Meghalaya police. Since the deployment of BSF in election duty in Meghalaya, BSF and police have jointly seized drugs and narcotics items like heroin, liquor and Yaba worth about Rs 3.10 crore.
