Shillong, March 4: With the approaching summer season, preparations are afoot for the visit of Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in Ladakh.
Although no date has so far been fixed for arrival of the Dalai Lama in Ladakh, the administration has started making preparations for the visit.
Dalai Lama’s visit is seen by Buddhist population in Ladakh with enthusiasm as he delivers sermons and stays in the cold desert for nearly a month almost every year.
Member Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and other officials from Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), a local body that watches over development and other affairs of Leh district, visited the Khaltse village to oversee the preparation and necessary arrangements ahead of the visit of the spiritual leader to sham region this year.
Jamyang also reviewed plans prepared by the executing agencies. After the visit, a review meeting was conducted at Dak Bungalow, Khaltse by the officials with all the concerned departmental chiefs and the stakeholders including village representatives.
“After all the observations and site visits, departmental heads were instructed to ensure the execution of all the planned infrastructural works and required facilities well on time” said an official spokesperson.
Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) facilitates the stay of 14th Dalai Lama in the region. He stays at his summer residence where foolproof security arrangement was made even last year during his visit.
