Shillong, March 13: One of the key henchman of gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed was detained by the Prayagraj police in Umesh Pal murder case.
Balli Pandit, the prime accused in Umesh Pal murder had met Atiq Ahmed’s wife just five days before the murder of Pal. The visuals of the meeting were caught on CCTV cameras. Another shooter Shabir who is absconding was also seen in the footage.
On March 5, the UP police had announced a bounty of Rs 2.5 lakh on all the shooters in the Umesh Pal murder case.
Umesh Pal who was the witness in murder case of 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal was shot dead on February 24 by a group of attackers. Two of the attackers have already been killed by police in encounters.
