SHILLONG, March 20: The first polytechnic institute in East Garo Hills was inaugurated way back in 2018 but the establishment is being used by Meghalaya Police.
According to Congress leader Deborah Marak, the building was inaugurated in 2018 by Mukul Sangma, the then Chief Minister, and the institute was supposed to start functioning immediately.
However, 5 years down the line, the building is being used by the Police department, she lamented.
“I remember the then Principal Secretary of Education, DP Wahlang had promised that the project will start functioning,” Marak said, while adding that the polytechnic should be used as per its mandate which is to provide skill training to the youths.
