Missing
A 19-year-old boy from Sohparu, Lawse, West Khasi Hills, has gone missing since April 10, a police statement here said. A missing report in this regard was filed by one Meshelta Lyngkhoi, the guardian of the missing person, wherein it was stated that Copperson Lyngdoh Nonglait has been missing since April 10. The missing person bears a fair complexion, normal (muscular) built, black eyes, curly black hair, is five-foot tall, and was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt, grey hoodie, a pair of black cargo trousers and a pair of black shoes.
Enshrinement
The Laban Sanatan Dharmasabha, Harisabha, will celebrate the enshrinement day of Laksminarayan on April 23. According to a statement here, besides puja of Lakshminarayan, Jogonnathdeb, Bolbhodro, Subhodra and Shibthakur, Shri Shri Chandi will be worshipped and recitation of the holy hymns from Shri Chandi and special Yagna will be performed. Meanwhile, on April 22, a special abhishek of Shri Shri Laksminarayan, Jogonnathdeb, Bolbhodro, Subhodra and Shibthakur will be performed.
Dry days
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) has declared dry days on May 8, 9 and 10 in all areas falling under Sohiong constituency in view of the by-election. Similarly, May 13 has also been declared a dry day in the aforesaid areas in view of the counting day.
Programme
A Summer School on ‘Contemporary Political Theory and Politics in India’, organised by the Department of Political Science, Women’s College, Shillong, got under way on Monday. The ten-day programme, organised for the six semester students of the department, was inaugurated by the Controller of Examination NEHU, Shillong, Colonel Omkar Singh (Retd.), who was the chief guest on the occasion. The resources persons for the programme are Prof. Ashok Acharya of University of Delhi, Dr. Sohini Guha, ex-faculty of University of Delhi, and Dr. Rajesh Dev of University of Delhi.
Unclaimed body
A body of an unknown man was on April 2 recovered from the ground behind Hind Jalpan, Mawlonghat, Bara Bazar, Shillong. Subsequently, inquest and other legal formalities were observed. Following autopsy, the body has been kept at the morgue of Shillong Civil Hospital for identification and claim. According to a statement here, the deceased is approximately 45 years old, is approximately 5.2-foot tall, has a swarthy complexion, a moderate built, oval face, black moustache and beard, and black hair. He was found wearing a brown leather jacket, light brown sweater, green shirt, grey T-shirt, blue jeans, black formal shoe, brown leather belt, brown woolen cap and green and black checkered scarf.
