Five children drown in Gujarat’s Krishna Sagar Lake

Shillong, May 14: Five children in Gujarat’s Botad district drowned in Krishna Sagar Lake. Two kids were swimming in the lake, according to accounts, when they started drowning.

Three other children who were there went into the lake to save them. But they too died by drowning. All of the victims were minors. Around 4:30 pm on Saturday, the police were informed by locals about the incident.

A rescue attempt was made as soon as the police arrived on the scene, but the kids could not be saved. The deceased’s identification has not yet been determined.

“Five children drowned to death in Krishna Sagar Lake outside of Botad. Two kids started drowning while swimming in the afternoon. Three others were present and jumped into the lake to save them, but they also died. All are between the ages of 16 and 17. Additional research is being done”, Botad SP Kishor Balolia said.
