6 varsities from NE in top 20 list; NEHU ranks 15th

NEW DELHI, May 27: Six universities from Northeast including the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) have made it to the top 20 central universities list, as per the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) University ranking under the category of Central Universities (Overall).
Mizoram University ranked 13th — the highest in Northeast as per the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework University Ranking 2023. The University was formally inaugurated in 2001.
Mizoram University is followed by Tezpur University (14th), North-Eastern Hill University (15th), Rajiv Gandhi University at Itanagar (16th) Sikkim University (18th) and Assam University (19th).
Jawaharlal Nehru University topped the list of Central University, Benaras Hindu University ranked second and Aligarh Muslim University third best varsity of India by IIRF. Jamia Millia Islamia, the University of Hyderabad, and Delhi University have secured the 4th, 5th, and 6th ranks, respectively.
Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted, “It’s a proud moment for all of us as the Mizoram University has bagged the 13th rank (1st place in North-East India) in the IIRF University Ranking 2023, under the category of Central Universities (Overall). This achievement reiterates my firm belief that Mizoram University can be amongst the best in India.”
Mizoram University was set up as part of the Peace Accord.
