Condolence
The Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Student Association has condoled the demise of one Pradyut Neogi, who passed away on Wednesday. He was a former finance secretary of Shillong Socio-Cultural Assamese Student Association, the association said in a statement adding that he was always a big support and guidance for the organisation. “The loss of Pradyut Neogi leaves a void that will be felt by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time,” it said.
Student award
ABVP, Shillong is organising the ‘U Tirot Sing Best Student Award-2023’ at U SoSo Tham Auditorium on September 1. This year’s SSLC and HSSLC toppers of each school from East Khasi region, especially Shillong, will be felicitated at the programme, a statement issued here informed. The organisation has urged the respective principals, teachers, parents and students to attend the programme.
Dry days
In view of the upcoming election of the Sordar under Raid Shabong, the Deputy Commissioner (Excise) of East Khasi Hills has declared Friday and Saturday as dry days in all the villages falling under the Raid Shabong area, Pynursla Civil Sub-Division. All IMFL ‘OFF’ and ‘ON’ shops in the area will also remain closed on the aforementioned days.
Workshop
The Department of Economics and Internal Quality Assurance Cell Iaikyntiew College in collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shillong Branch, held a one-day workshop on Financial Inclusion on Thursday. The workshop was attended by teaching and non-teaching staff and students including invitees from other institutions. The resource persons for the session were Lalit Vijay Singh, Manager, RBI, and Banlam J Nongbri, Assistant.
Lecture
The Department of Khasi, St. Anthony’s College, Shillong will hold the memorial lecture for (L) JS Shangpliang at 10am on September 9.
