College celebrates 65th Foundation Day

Tura, Sep 9: Remembering with pride and gratitude its visionary founding members, Tura Government College celebrated its 65th Foundation Day with a daylong, elaborate function and an evening of cultural extravaganza at its college premises on Saturday.
Achieving a milestone with a myriad of successful politicians, bureaucrats, scholars, industrialists etc as its alumni, the prestigious institution was founded on September 9, 1958 by visionary leaders and educationists.
The day-long program saw felicitation of the college’s alumni guests and also the presentation of mementos to the family members of the founding members including those of Lt. Captain Williamson A Sangma, Lt. Mody K Marak, Lt. Simison R Sangma, I Ch Momin, Lt. E R Marak, Lt. Sodini G Momin, Mon Bahadur Newar, Lt Ravilal Jayshree and Lt. B Lohar.
During the day a book authored by Rhinkle Marak, Galwangreni Aski, was released by Legislative Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma accompanied by other dignitaries.
Among others who spoke at the occasion were PHE Minister Marcuise N Marak, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma and Tura Government College principal Terence Marak.
