TURA, Sep 14: The ADE from Gasuapara in South Garo Hills on Thursday condemned the alleged substandard work done on the Chokpot to Sibbari and Chokpot to Kakija, Asakgre road and sought necessary steps from different quarters to be taken with regard to the matter.
The association in a statement issued here said that due to the deplorable conditions of the said roads people from the region were facing grave hardships on a daily basis. According to the association, while repairs were carried out from time to time over the last 10 years, the repaired road does not last and starts to deteriorate after only two or three months due to shoddy work done on them.
The association has also questioned why the concerned department allowed the shoddy work to continue.
“Why was nothing done to check the sub-standard work? The department should have intervened if proper work was not being done,” it said.
Meanwhile, the association has sought the intervention of local MLA Sengchim Sangma and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. The association also sought the blacklisting of such contractors in the future.
