KHADC has sets aside Rs 45 lakhs for research projects

Shillong, Sept 25: KHADC Chief Executive Member, Pyniaid Sing Syiem on Monday informed that the council has earmarked Rs 45 lakh for the research projects on as many 20 areas pertaining to the tradition, culture, customs and practices of the Khasi community.

While replying to the cut motion moved by HSPDP MDC, Martle N. Mukhim during the special session of the council, KHADC CEM informed that the council has notified the Research and Development Committee under the Education Department of the Council with Executive Member in-charge of the department, Carness Sohshang.

The other members of the committee include Dr Jasmine Lyngdoh, Dr Plielad Nongsiej, Dr DRL Nonglait, Dr Faithfulness Marngar and Dr Belinda Khyriem.

Syiem further informed that 20 lakh has been allocated for the major research while Rs 15 lakh has been earmarked for the minor research.

According to him, the scholars who will be selected will have to complete their work within March 31, 2024.
