244 graduates from Seng Khasi College express gratitude
SHILLONG, Sep 28: As many as 244 graduates from Seng Khasi College donned academic regalia and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated faculty, staff and their families who supported them throughout their academic journey. The graduation ceremony for the college’s 2020 batch of students was held on Thursday. The event witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries and guests. The ceremony marked not only their achievements but also the commencement of their promising futures. Chief guest of the occasion was O Pyngrope, president in-charge, Seng Khasi Kmie. His address emphasised on the importance of perseverance and encouraged them to embark on their respective journeys with dedication and purpose. In attendance were key members of the college’s governing body including BS Rumnong, president of the governing body, RH Dkhar, secretary; and former principals B Pde and Y Swer, who have played pivotal roles in shaping the College’s academic legacy. WB Rynjah, the current Principal, shared his vision for the institution’s future highlighting the significance of holistic education and community engagement. He expressed confidence in the graduates’ ability to carry forward the institution’s values and make meaningful contributions to society.

 

Senior medical officers’
conference at EAC HQ
SHILLONG, Sep 28: A two-day Senior Medical Officers’ Conference was held at Headquarters Eastern Air Command (EAC) Shillong on September 26 and 27 on the theme “Aeromedical Evacuation: Evolving paradigms”. Air Vice Marshal Kaushik Chatterjee, Principal Medical Officer, EAC, welcomed the gathering. Air Marshal SP Dharkar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, EAC, inaugurated the conference and Air Marshal R Vaidya, Director General Medical Services (Air Force), delivered the keynote address on the medical challenges. Experts spoke on various aspects of casualty evacuation by air, focusing on recent developments and future trends. Various contemporary health issues and patient safety were also discussed. Trends in lifestyle and infectious diseases were deliberated upon. An interacting and intensive workshop on trauma management provided for hands – on training during the Conference.

 

Award for school teachers
SHILLONG, Sep 28: Rotary Club of Shillong Heritage (RCSH) concluded a month-long team effort to carry out selection of the best teachers in five secondary schools — Eriben Presbyterian School, Arya Kanya Vidhalaya School, RB Anupchand Hindi School, Holy Child Higher Secondary school and Arya Vidhalaya School — to recognise them as the true nation builders.The Principals of the schools nominated at least 10 teachers and thereafter 10 students marked these teachers on parameters related to performance, compassion, and learning styles. A fair methodology enabled RCSH to identify winners from each school, who were then awarded in the school assembly. The principals of the schools were also felicitated and presented with Rotary’s ‘Four Way Test’, a moral code for Rotarians. The awards and efforts were appreciated all around, with the initiative led by Club president Vishal Amarnani and the Club literacy chair Gayatri Marnie Batkhar and well supported by all the club members, principals, teachers and students from the schools.
