ASHAs give govt one week to fulfil demands

SHILLONG, Oct 16: The ASHA workers, under the banner of Meghalaya ASHA Workers’ Union (MAWU) on Monday gave a week’s ultimatum to Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh to fulfil their various demands.
Ampareen had given an appointment to MAWU to meet them but the latter was left disappointed as she had to rush to Delhi owing to some emergency.
This is the third time the minister cancelled their appointment in a matter of two weeks, MAWU said.
The MAWU has been demanding enhancement of their monthly honorarium of Rs 2,000 per month and free medical benefits/treatments.
