Govt mulls more approach roads to NST

SHILLONG, Dec 11: The state government is now looking to construct maximum number of approach connection from New Shillong Township to Shillong Bypass and Shillong Jowai road
The PWD (Roads) department, which held a meeting with other line departments here on Monday, deliberated on the ways in which the projects can be executed.
Deputy Chief Minister in charge of PWD (Roads), Prestone Tynsong said the government is trying to find out more alignments in the New Shillong Township area so that more approach roads can be constructed.
Informing that some stretches in the NST will be a four-lane road, Tynsong added that the state government will approach the central government for necessary sanctioning of the projects.
Tynsong also ruled out any four-lane road project in old Shillong.
