HYC calls off strike scheduled for Monday

Shillong, Jan 13: The Education Cell of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on Saturday said that they had called off the strike scheduled for Monday over the issue of unreceived scholarship money for post matric students.

It may be mentioned that the state government recently announced the receipt of the second instalment of post matric scholarship for tribal students.

Thereby the group stating that they are calling off the rally since the Chief Minister has already announced that they would start disbursing it soon.

The HYC has given the state government a deadline of two weeks to make sure that the scholarship reaches the beneficiaries.

Briefing reporters on Monday, the HYC along with NEHUSU also said that they request the government to make sure that the president on her visit is made aware of the problems in the state’s education sector.
