MAWKYRWAT, April 10: VPP president Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit on Wednesday mocked the BJP and the NPP yet again, asserting that it is quite clear to the people of Meghalaya that these parties are “brothers supporting each other”.
“The BJP understood that it cannot grow in Meghalaya as it failed at the grassroots level, and now it has tied up with the NPP. BJP and NPP are ‘Bhai-Bhai’. These two parties support each other…the NPP supports CAB in Parliament and it is now the BJP’s turn to support NPP in the election,” Basaiawmoit said at a public meeting at Mawkyrwat market in South West Khasi Hills.
The VPP chief also hit out at the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) for trying to seek votes by fooling the public that they are a united regional force in the state, whereas in reality they are divided.
“They think that the public are fools that they will believe whatever they say, but the people now know everything because the MLAs of the HSPDP never attended any election rally of the RDA,” he said.
The VPP supremo also made a bold claim that all the political parties in Meghalaya, including BJP, NPP, RDA and Congress are fighting towards one goal — to ensure that the VPP loses since they are afraid that all their corruption will be exposed.
“Why they are so afraid of the VPP? The reason is because we have clearly stated that we will remove corruption, eradicate poverty and end unfair practices,” he asserted.
