SHILLONG, May 29: A landslide on Wednesday at Lad Massar near Rngain, along a stretch of Shillong-Dawki road, cut off the road connectivity and affected the movement of vehicles for a few hours.
It may be mentioned the stretch of the Shillong-Dawki road at Rngain is prone to landslides during monsoon, especially due to the road-widening being carried out as part of the Shillong-Dawki road project.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of Pynursla Civil Subdivision, in an advisory, had informed the general public that there was a likelihood of landslides along the Rngain stretch of the NH-40 Shillong-Dawki road, owing to the inclement weather.
“Therefore, it is advised to all the general public to exercise due caution while travelling/commuting along the said road, especially during heavy rain and during the night hours, and also avoid taking any unnecessary travel along the route,” the advisory read.
