SHILLONG, July 28: The Meghalaya government has enhanced the infrastructure of several police outposts across the state through the Police Infrastructure Renovation Fund (PIRF) scheme. This initiative has led to the provision of modern amenities, including toilets, drinking water, and waiting rooms, aimed at ensuring better working conditions for police personnel.
One notable example is the Mallangkona Police Outpost, which received an investment of Rs 17.5 lakh for its upgrade, earlier.
Several new police outposts have also been sanctioned, to be upgraded from police outposts that include, the Umsning PS, Patharkhmah PS, Rajabala PS, Araimile PS and Raliang PS.
Additionally, the new police outposts that have been created include, Mawkynrew OP, Mawjrong OP, Kyrshai OP, Athiabari OP, Barato OP, Umpleng OP, Rongsak OP and Bawegre OP.
The National People’s Party (NPP) took to the social media platform X and praising this initiative wrote, “From old and worn-out outposts to new and improved facilities. Under Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s leadership, the government has upgraded several Police Outposts with the PIRF scheme. These renovations provide modern amenities like toilets, drinking water, and waiting rooms.”
