TURA, Aug 5: Farmers under Selsella C&RD Block in West Garo Hills have submitted a complaint to the District Agriculture Officer of the district, seeking action against the Agriculture Inspector (AI) under the block for allegedly taking money from them for their verification as beneficiaries under PM-KISAN.
The complaint by the farmers was submitted on July 30, against one, Mominur Islam.
According to the farmers, this incident of illegal collection is not the only one but the official has been collecting money from them each time the scheme is implemented also in the past. The farmers claim that the collection of money (Rs 500/-, sometimes more) usually takes place at the official’s residence, after which an ID card is provided to them.
“This, on its own, is a serious crime. However, even after paying the demanded amount our verification remains pending. We have had enough and since we have no other option, we have submitted this complaint petition,” the farmers said.
The farmers, in their complaint sought the initiation of an inquiry into the matter, the filing of an FIR as well as action against the official and other necessary action as the department may deem fit.
