Over 1,000 students graduate from MLCU

Shillong, Sep 20: Over 1,000 scholars received degrees and diplomas on the 17th Convocation Day celebration of Martin Luther Christian University at the Lariti International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture on Friday.
Crossing four figures for the first time, altogether 1044 students graduated from the university which included 20 PhDs.
Stories by the Fireside, the latest artwork by Casper Syiem was unveiled during the programme.
Speaking at the occasion, Former Vice Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University Fr Stephen Mavely imparted three significant reflections that all students should be mindful of, learn to dream and to set goals as fast as you can, to appreciate the journey that you will be making now – Little Easter eggs in life. He reminded the graduates that every time they encounter an obstacle, it is a test to see how firm their foundation is. The obstacles should teach them everything they need to meet the end of their journey. They should learn day by day to lean on a power that is larger than them – to learn to lean on God.
A citation was presented by the chancellor to the convocation speaker Fr. Stephen Mavely.
Distinguished Alumni Awards were presented to LovitoliAwomi, Morealda Paswet, Parkordor Kharkongor, IadalinWarbah, Lalonging M Lyngdoh, and Rinyei Khamrang and plaques of appreciation were presented to 19 university partners for their support.
The day concluded with Aurora Borealis, a musical event that featured the bands Kdormaju Amalgam, In Flux, and Ras Johanan.
The new Mel and Sue University ambassadors, Zishan Gautam, BSc Psychology, and Pamela Iohdahun Pyngrope, BA English were introduced to the audience.
