Fit India Run to be held in Shillong on Oct 26

Shillong, Oct 22: The Sports Authority of India (SAI), STC Shillong, is all set to host the Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 5.0 under the theme “Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat” on October 26, 2024.
The event aims to promote both cleanliness and health, in line with the nationwide Fit India Movement.
The run will begin at 6:00 AM from the Main Gate of SAI STC Shillong, taking participants around the NEHU campus and concluding at the Athletic Track of SAI STC Shillong. Registration for the event is currently open to all.
International marathon runner, Beningstar Lyngkhoi, will grace the occasion and flag off the race. The Fit India Swachhata Freedom Run 5.0 promises to be a meaningful event, merging the ideals of cleanliness and physical fitness under the banner of “Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat.” With a strong emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyles while also encouraging citizens to contribute to a cleaner and greener India, the run symbolizes the core values of the Fit India Movement. The presence of marathon champion Beningstar Lyngkhoi, a celebrated athlete from the region, adds inspiration to the participants and highlights the significance of the initiative. As the runners navigate through the scenic NEHU campus, the event is expected to create awareness about the importance of fitness and hygiene, fostering a sense of responsibility among the people of Shillong. The race not only aims to unite the community in pursuit of a healthier nation but also to emphasize the collective role of every individual in maintaining the cleanliness of our surroundings.
