Shillong, Nov 10: Meghalaya’s Under-11 Roll Ball team put forth an inspiring display of skill and resilience at the 3rd Mini East Zone National Championship, held in Kolkata from November 9-10, 2024.
Competing against strong teams from across the region, the young athletes showcased impressive teamwork and sportsmanship, representing their state with pride.
Despite not clinching a podium finish, Meghalaya’s team won praise for their unwavering spirit and dedication throughout the tournament, setting a promising tone for the future of Roll Ball in the state.
Their performance highlighted the potential of Meghalaya’s young players and the state’s growing interest in this emerging sport.The championship concluded with the following results in both boys’ and girls’ categories:
In the boys’ category, Odisha emerged as the winner, followed by Assam as the first runner-up and Bihar as the second runner-up. In the girls’ category, Assam took the top position, with Odisha finishing as the first runner-up and West Bengal as the second runner-up.
The Roll Ball Federation of India and the local organisers in Kolkata commended the athletes for their exceptional performances and team spirit. As the young players return home, Meghalaya’s sports community eagerly looks forward to their continued growth and achievements in Roll Ball.
