Chutwakhu clinch 12th Chatister Kharkongor Memorial Trophy

Jowai, Nov 16: Chutwakhu SC lifted the 12th edition of the Chatister Kharkongor Memorial Trophy after a commanding 3-1 victory over Mooknor Thadmuthlong SC in the final of the 1st Division Football Tournament, organized by the West Jaintia District Sports Association (WJDSA). The electrifying final took place on Saturday at the Kiang Nangbah Stadium in Jowai.
Chutwakhu SC showcased their dominance in the second half, with Luckyness Khyriem opening the scoring through a penalty in the 65th minute. Gladio Susngi added to the tally in the 82nd minute before Faithful Bthuh sealed the win with a goal in the 90th minute. Mooknor Thadmuthlong SC managed to pull one back with a penalty converted by Rimiki Suchiang in the 85th minute, but it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome.
The awards ceremony saw Finely Pariat, General Secretary of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association, as the Chief Guest. Chutwakhu SC swept the individual honors, with Gladio Susngi named Player of the Tournament, Lalmalsawma Tariang securing the Best Goalkeeper award, and Trerigin Tariang earning the Man of the Match title for his instrumental role in the final.
