Simsang Festival 2024 kicks off in Williamnagar

WILLIAMNAGAR, Dec 13: Soil and Water Conservation Minister Marcuise N Marak on Friday inaugurated the two-day Simsang Festival 2024 at the Williamnagar District Sports Association (WDSA) Stadium.
Addressing the gathering, Marak reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting tourism in Garo Hills region.
He highlighted the state’s focus on popular destinations such as Daribokgre and Mandalgre, informing that steps are being taken to boost tourism in these areas.
The highlights of the festival include a wide range of activities, including a flower show, singing and dancing competitions, cooking contests, traditional and indigenous games, eating challenges, and a fancy dress competition.
The inaugural programme was also attended by East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, Superintendent of Police Stephen A Rynjah, among others.
