Shillong, Dec 24: The Meghalaya Basketball Association (MBA) has announced the ‘Meghalaya State Senior Open 3×3 Basketball Championship,’ scheduled to take place from December 27 to 28, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong.
The tournament will feature both men’s and women’s categories, offering local basketball enthusiasts a platform to showcase their skills.
The stakes are high as the winning teams in both categories will earn the opportunity to represent Meghalaya in the prestigious ‘4th Senior National 3×3 Basketball Championship,’ set to be held in Bengaluru from January 17 to 19, 2025.
Participation Criteria and Format
The tournament will accommodate a maximum of 24 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams, based on a first-come, first-serve registration policy. Matches will follow a league-cum-knockout format, ensuring competitive play throughout the event.
Participation is open exclusively to domiciles of Meghalaya aged 18 and above. Players will need to provide valid identification documents, such as EPIC or Aadhaar cards, for verification.
Notably, the championship is FIBA-endorsed, and all entries are to be submitted online. This endorsement aligns the event with global basketball standards and provides participants with an opportunity to gain exposure on a larger stage.
