Jaishankar to represent India at Trump’s inauguration
New Delhi, Jan 12: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony of US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. During his visit to Washington, Jaishankar will also have meetings with representatives of the incoming Trump administration, the MEA said on Sunday. “During the visit, the external affairs minister will also have meetings with representatives of the incoming administration, as also some other dignitaries visiting the US on that occasion,” the MEA said. 2 sisters fall to death from fourth floor
Chandigarh, Jan 12: Two sisters in their early 20s died after falling from the fourth floor of a local businessman’s house at Sector 40 in Gurugram, police said on Sunday. While the house owner’s family claimed they fell from the balcony on Friday in a desperate bid to escape after a “theft attempt”, the deceased family has alleged foul play behind the deaths though no formal complaint of murder has been lodged yet, police said. Minor girl dies of mysterious disease in J&K
Rajouri/Jammu, Jan 12: A five-year-old girl died and her five other siblings were admitted to a hospital after they fell seriously ill in a village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Sunday, officials said. The siblings belonged to Badhaal village of Kotranka sub-division where nine members of two different families had lost their lives due to a mysterious disease in December last year. The officials said that six children of Mohammad Aslam were brought to community health centre Kandi for medical check-up on Saturday evening. (PTI)

Steve Jobs’ wife to visit Maha Kumbh
New Delhi, Jan 12: Laurene Powell Jobs, the wife of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is in India to attend Maha Kumbh 2025, slated to begin on January 13. On her way to the Maha Kumbh, to be held in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, she also offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. Accompanied by Swami Kailashanand Giri Maharaj of Niranjani Akhara to the temple, Laurene adhered to the traditions of the temple. She wore a pink suit and had a white “dupatta” on her head. Laurene offered her prayers from outside the sanctum sanctorum at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. “She followed the traditions of the temple…As per our Indian tradition, in Kashi Vishwanath, none other than Hindus can touch the Shivling. That’s why she was made to see the Shivling from outside,” said the Swami. (IANS)
