TURA, Jan 30: The headman of Bhangarpur village in West Garo Hills has written to the PHE Minister Marcuise N Marak, seeking prompt action against the alleged non-execution of a JJM scheme in the same village.
The JJM scheme in question comes under the Greater Tikrikilla Water Supply Scheme, sanctioned in the year 2021-22.
“The scheme was sanctioned for a total of 558 households with an estimated cost of Rs 10,94,640. According to records of the concerned department, an amount of Rs 8,21530 was utilised and it was claimed that tap connections were provided to 90 households. However, in reality, no pipelines have been laid or tap water provided as claimed,” village headman, Mottior Hussain, said in his complaint. Hussain claimed that in addition to the alleged non-execution of the said JJM scheme, a new scheme called ‘Extension of Distribution System for left-out households under Tikrikilla block’ was re-sanctioned in 2022-23 with an estimated cost of Rs 1,21,002.
However, despite some portion of the sanctioned amount having been utilised, as per records available with the department, no tap water connections could be seen at the village.
Meanwhile, Hussain has demanded that a thorough investigation be initiated into the utilisation of funds, ensuring that the promised tap water connections be made available in the village and that action be taken against those responsible.
