Chennaiyin edge past Punjab

Chennai, Feb 15: Chennaiyin FC secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Punjab FC in the Indian Super League (ISL), thanks to a late winner from Daniel Chima Chukwu. Wilmar Jordan Gil put Chennaiyin ahead in the 18th minute with a penalty before Punjab’s Luka Majcen equalized early in the second half.
However, Chukwu’s 84th-minute strike sealed three crucial points for Chennaiyin, who now sit in 10th place with 24 points from 21 matches, level with Punjab in 9th place.
Meanwhile, Mohun Bagan Super Giant continued their title charge with a commanding 3-0 win over Kerala Blasters FC in Kochi. Jamie Maclaren scored a brace, first converting Liston Colaco’s assist in the 28th minute and then netting a brilliant long-range effort just before halftime. Alberto Rodriguez added a third in the 65th minute, securing Mohun Bagan’s position at the top with 49 points from 21 matches, 10 points clear of second-placed FC Goa. (Agencies)
