BSF recovers smuggled items worth Rs 2.13 cr in fortnight

SHILLONG, March 3: The Border Security Force (BSF), during the current fortnight, seized narcotics and other smuggled items worth Rs 2.13 crore and apprehended two Indian and nine Bangladeshi nationals involved in various border-related crimes.
One of the highlights of this feat includes successful apprehension of 143 cattle and the confiscation of other contraband items.
These efforts were bolstered by close collaboration with state and central agencies in joint operations aimed at maintaining peace and preventing illegal activities in the region.
In addition to its border security duties, the BSF troops timely evacuated border residents for immediate medical treatment apart from organising blood donation camp and three civic action programmes including free medical camps, skill development training, sports tournaments, and cultural activities.
These initiatives have played an important role in enhancing the well-being of the local populace and fostering trust between the BSF and border communities.
The BSF also actively participated in bilateral meetings to address cross-border issues and enhance coordination with its counterpart, the Bangladesh Border Guard.
