SHILLONG, March 29: Tura MP Saleng Sangma has petitioned the Chairman and members of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, seeking comprehensive development initiatives for his constituency.
He proposed the establishment of modern skill development centres focused on agro-processing and textile manufacturing to boost local employment and industry. Further, Saleng advocated for the creation of two medical colleges in the constituency with an annual intake of 600 students to strengthen healthcare and medical education.
Highlighting the need for a comprehensive milk mission, the Tura MP called for livestock and animal husbandry initiatives to support dairy production. He also proposed the development of solar parks under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aiming to create green jobs and promote sustainable energy solutions.
The MP further urged the Cabinet Committee to prioritise airport infrastructure development, emphasising its potential to enhance tourism and economic growth in the region.
