Two-day national workshop culminates at NEHU Tura

SHILLONG, March 31: Curtain came down on a two-day national workshop on ‘Nurturing Future Leadership Program’, organised by the Department of Education, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tura Campus.
The workshop, held on March 25-26, 2025, commenced with an inaugural ceremony and lighting of the lamp.
Prof. Sujata Gurudev, Director of NEHU Tura Campus, welcomed all participants and expressed her deep gratitude towards them. The attendees comprised principals and senior faculty members from various colleges in Garo Hills.
Addressing the workshop’s objectives, Dr. Saru Joshi, Program Coordinator, highlighted the importance of leadership in contemporary society.
Noting that West Garo Hills has produced notable leaders, she credited education as a key factor in nurturing leadership.
However, she emphasised that modern leadership requires a new set of skills and qualities to navigate the complexities of today’s world.
She added that such workshops equip future leaders with strategies to inspire, guide, and transform organisations.
On the other hand, NEHU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, underscored the crucial role of leadership in building an academic ecosystem and uplifting indigenous communities.
He highlighted that the development of institutions depends on visionary leaders and the enhancement of their skills.
The sessions were conducted by faculty members, including Prof. BP Sahu on ‘Leadership Development for Higher Education Institutions: Strategic Vision, Adaptability, and Resilience’, Prof. Nikme SC Momin on ‘Linking Leadership and Communication’, Prof. SC Subudhi on ‘Fostering a Research Environment’, Dr. Manoj Rana on ‘Building Institutional Brand in the Digital Era’ and Prof. Abhigyan Bhattacharjee on ‘From Potential to Performance: Nurturing Leadership Skills for Tomorrow’.
Participants, including Dr. Mothis M. Sangma, Mendipathar College principal, and Dr. Monish CH Marak, Associate Professor at CTE Rongkhon, shared positive feedback on the workshop. They said the sessions provided valuable insights into leadership, management, administration and teaching in higher educational institutions.
They also requested more such workshops in the future to further enhance leadership skills.
The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants.
