SHILLONG, April 15: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has expressed concern over the delay in conducting the physical efficiency test (PET), written examination and interview for various posts under the Prison Recruitment Board.
On Tuesday, members of the HYC submitted a representation and met the Assistant Inspector General of Prisons-cum-Member Secretary of the Board, calling for immediate action.
The HYC highlighted that the Board had invited applications for several posts in 2019. In response to the advertisement, a large number of youths had applied and submitted the requisite fees.
However, the organisation was informed that, to date, no steps have been taken to initiate the recruitment process, including the PET, written examination or interview.
Stating that the prolonged delay has taken a toll on the applicants, both mentally and financially, the HYC said, “Prolonged delay will also lead to major problem of over-aging of majority of these applicants in the future.”
During the meeting, the Member Secretary cited the delay in appointing a service provider for the implementation of the Transparent Recruitment Process (TRP) as the main reason. The official, however, assured that the process is ongoing and would be completed soon.
The HYC then the Member Secretary to ensure that all candidates, who had applied under the said advertisement, are allowed to participate in the recruitment process. It also called for the completion of the process within a reasonable timeframe to safeguard the future and job prospects of the applicants.
Meanwhile, the HYC has pledged to continue following up on the matter and warned that, in the event of further unnecessary delays, it will take appropriate action in due course.
